Training Schedule (2020 Schedule coming soon!)
Daily training sessions start at 9am to 12pm and 4pm - 7pm with boxing and kickboxing in the morning sessions and Monkey Jits in the evening sessions everyday. 2019's schedule (above) as an example.
If you registered for the All Access Plus package your private training session will be arranged around the group training sessions.
Free group classes for registered ATC participants are provided if you arrive early and don't have sight-seeing plans.
Attend one or all of the training sessions! You don't have to attend all the training sessions. Pace yourself accordingly. There will be enough time to rest, go sightseeing or hangout by the pool or enjoy a massage on this schedule.
Be sure to join us on Sunday's Hang Out session for great food & drinks and memories that you will talk about for years to come!
Places to stay, things to see & do
If you haven't visited Malaysia yet, you will find it to be a melting pot of cultures, amazing food and year-round sunshine. Malaysia is one of most affordable countries to visit with many unique things to do. Boasting some of the World’s most gorgeous beaches and islands with world class hotel and resorts, to the cooling climes of Cameron Highlands to the smorgasbord of tastes in Kuala Lumpur to Penang, there is something for everyone. Popular visits includes Petaling Street Chinatown to the one of the world's oldest rainforests in our National Parks and much, much more.
Anyone with a passport and an adventurers heart is welcome to join. Malaysia does not require any tourist visas and has no entry fees at immigration for citizens of USA, UK, Australia, EU nations and more. See what a nomad specialist says about visiting Kuala Lumpur. However, it is best to check here if unsure.
Most locals speak English iand getting around is safe, easy and convenient with GrabCar
Budget around US$30/day for daily expenses for taxis (use the Grab Car app), shopping, and meals.
Kuala Lumpur is the Capital City of Malaysia with almost 7.7 million residents (as of 2019).
Arrivals: From Kuala Lumpur International Airport provides the KL Sentral Airport Express train to the city in only 28 minutes (about 40 minutes by taxi). There is free WiFi in the airport and on the train. Via taxi you can get a budget or premier taxi at the arrival lobby or prearrange for an airport transfer by car if you prefer online via www.airportlimo.my or bus if you are traveling on a budget.
First timers flying out here, please get some melatonin tablets to help you ease over any jet-lag you may experience. Drink lots of water as you will not be used to the humidity and heat.
There are many options to stay in Kuala Lumpur. The link I have provided for AirBnB will give you some $ credit towards your future booking. Please use the search words: Bangsar or Bangsar Utama. Recommended properties include: Nadi Bangsar, Gaya Bangsar, Bangsar Permai condo. These are all less than 10 minute walk to the gym. Staying near the gym will also give you access (7 minutes walking) to Bangsar LRT train into the city and sights (3 to 4 stops away).
Local traffic conditions are unpredictable and can be severe, it is best to stay nearby to be on time for the training sessions along Jalan Maarof or in the vicinity of Bangsar.
Personally, I prefer AirBnB especially those equipped with a washing machine to deal with sweaty gym clothes and I want clean training gear daily.
Electricity in Malaysia is 220~240V and the wall socket/power plug is the 3 pin UK standard when you plan to bring your electronic devices for charging.
USA phones must get their phones unlocked to accept local SIM cards. It may be best to get a local SIM card at the airport on arrival or in the shopping mall (Passport ID is required for the purchase).
Food options are plentiful from local, Western and vegetarian. Your only problem is finding the space to fit it all in. Malaysia is famous for its Nasi Lemak, Satay, curries and Chinese cuisines. There is the annual Satay championship event held on the Sunday hang out session!
TOP TIP: Allow for a couple of days prior to the ATC for acclimatisation to the local humidity, heat and time differences. Being sufficiently rested will make a huge difference to your athletic performance especially if you’re here for trainer assessment. Stay hydrated at all times. Best to drink bottled water, isotonic drinks which are provided free of charge during the ATC weekend.
All affiliations and skill levels can join!
All LEVELS in all of the arts are welcome. We have hosted guests from as far the UK, USA, Canada, Spain, South Africa, Norway, Sweden, Germany, and closer from Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore and many people in between. Some are veterans with many years of training while others are just started with a few weeks of CMD classes. We know you will have a great time!
Those interested only in a specific area of the camp are also welcome, a FULL curriculum of classes will be available to all participants after they register and as the curriculum becomes available. Those training in one area can simply explore the city, hang out or train during other hours or classes.
Priority in booking will always be given to CMD students, however ALL Martial Artists from any city and gym are welcome!
Bring these things
Bring your rashguards, spats, training shorts, knee pads, mouth guards, jiu jitsu gi. We have limited numbers of boxing gloves, shin pads and MMA gloves for loan.
One of the first fully branded CMD Gyms in the World, CMD Malaysia is located in the suburb of Bangsar in Kuala Lumpur, a quick 15 minute drive from the city centre and arguably one of the nicest neighbourhoods in Kuala Lumpur offering everything under the sun. It is owned and operated by Vince Choo who with his team run classes from Mondays to Saturdays since 2006. All ATC participants are welcome to join in on our regularly scheduled classes during this week at no charge.
