WHY Portugal? WHY Porto?
Following the success of last year’s CMD Workshop in Lisbon, the event participants were already asking me when and where the next European year end workshop will be held before we even completed the event!
Feedback from 2018’s participants:
That was a well organised Workshop, by Vince. I’m wondering where is next one happening
Wherever it’s gonna be I highly recommended.
I’m always amazed the way Head Coach Rodney delivers his material. People with different experience in the room, but everyone is able to catch up, doesn’t matter you’re advanced or beginner you will learn something new.
Coaches Eric and Neville being awarded Black Belts; you don’t see this every day!
I had the opportunity to take my private sessions and there was enough time to hang out with friends.
All together very positive experience. Looking forward to next Workshop.
This is the best seminar i have ever been.Rodney’s teaching is top notch, straight to the point which is self-preservation. It clarified many misconceptions i had and offered a whole new information to work on. I would like to thanks Vince Choo for making it posible and being the best host one could ask.
It was awesome even for little chimp like me 🙊🔥🔥
Loved the Monkey approach 👏
After attending last years, I really can’t recommend this enough! And visiting Portugal is almost certainly cheaper than a weekend away in the UK.
This is a very family-friendly type of event with plenty of time to relax and sight see with your family/partners.
TRAVEL, DATES & FLIGHT INFO
Travel Dates: We advise you leave for Portugal in the third week of November to acclimatise and to get over any jet-lag especially if you are flying from West to East.
Most likely if you will flying internationally, you will transit at Lisbon airport to Porto (Francisco Sá Carneiro) Airport.
Getting to the City by Taxi from Porto Airport:
There plenty of taxi companies that serve the Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport. Taxis are regarded as the most convenient and fastest means to reach Porto City, even faster than the metro. The trip from the airport to the city by taxi takes an average of 20 to 30 minutes. There are plenty of taxis from different companies located right outside the arrivals area of the airport. Other transport means such as the buses do not operate around the clock and hence a taxi is the right choice if your flight is scheduled to arrive late in the night or very early in the morning. You will definitely need a taxi especially if you have much luggage.
The cost of the outward trip from Porto Airport to the city is usually between 20 to 30 Euros. Most taxis here are metered and therefore haggling over the cost is really not an available option. You should note that the rates go up by 20% in the evening hours, as from 2100hrs to 0600hrs, and these changes are automatically reflected by the taxi meter. The surcharges also apply to weekends i.e. Saturday and Sunday and the public holidays. There are some companies from which you can negotiate a good rate for a familiarization trip around the city though.
You will be pleased to know that most taxi drivers here have a good command of the English language plus they are friendly and helpful. With several renowned taxi companies such as Greenbus, Algaserra, Suntransfers.com, Holiday Taxis and Transcor, among others, you certainly have a wide variety to choose from. Should you be planning to visit the wineries it is necessary to take a cab to-and-from these locations because the bus routes do not cover those areas.

ACCOMMODATIONS, TRANSPORTATION & FOOD
There are many options to stay in Porto. The link I have provided for AirBnB will give you some $credit towards your future booking. Please use the search words “Lapa, Bolhão, Boavista” for your AirBnB destination. Personally, I prefer AirBnB especially those equipped with a washing machine! With sweaty gym clothes and shopping to be done, I want to have clean training gear daily and an empty suitcase for shopping so I don’t have to bring a lot of clothes.
Food options are plentiful from traditional Portuguese, Continental and vegetarian. Your only problem is finding the space to fit it all in. Porto is famous for its regional and unique pastries, seasonal fares, and of course it’s Port wines.
WHO CAN GO?
Anyone with a passport and an adventurers heart. Portugal is located in the South Westernern corner of Europe and is part of the Schengen zone. Please check to see whether you require a visa to visit Portugal from your home country.

EXPLORATION & FUN SCHEDULE
A visit to the famous riverside Port wineries, cafes and restaurants makes a wonderful day trip. If travelleing with the family riverboat trips on the Douro River is recommended. Porto is very walkable and with a long history. Be sure to drop in to Lello Bookstore
and be a little bit patient with the long queue. Once inside you’ll know it was worth the wait. Get your voucher online before arriving to save a bit of time.
As with any city, there are good spots and not so good spots to be in. If unsure, check with the locals.
