WHY Portugal? WHY Lisbon?
Lisbon is Portugal’s hilly, coastal capital city. From imposing São Jorge Castle, the view encompasses the old city’s pastel-colored buildings, Tagus Estuary and Ponte 25 de Abril suspension bridge. Nearby, the National Azulejo Museum displays 5 centuries of decorative ceramic tiles. Just outside Lisbon is a string of Atlantic beaches, from Cascais to Estoril.
TRAVEL, DATES & FLIGHT INFO
Travel Dates: We advise you leave for Portugal in the third week of November to acclimatise and to get over any jet-lag especially if you are flying from West to East.
Lisbon Portela Airport is simple to navigate and there are multiple ways (metro, bus, taxi) to get to the city which is the quickest and inexpensive.
ACCOMMODATIONS, TRANSPORTATION & FOOD
There are many options to stay in Lisbon. The link I have provided for AirBnB will give you some $credit towards your future booking. Please use the search words “Baixa, Chiado, Alfama” for your AirBnB destination. Personally, I prefer AirBnB especially those equipped with a washing machine! With sweaty gym clothes and shopping to be done, I want to have clean training gear daily and an empty suitcase for shopping so I don’t have to bring a lot of clothes.
Food options are plentiful from traditional Portuguese, Continental and vegetarian. Your only problem is finding the space to fit it all in. Portugal is famous for its pasteis de nata, seafood, bacalhau (salted dried codfish) and more.
WHO CAN GO?
Anyone with a passport and an adventurers heart. Portugal is located in the South Westernern corner of Europe and is part of the Schengen zone. Please check to see whether you require a visa to visit Portugal from your home country.
All LEVELS in all of the arts are welcome. Some are veterans with many years of training while others are just started with a few weeks of CMD classes. We know you will have a great time!

EXPLORATION & FUN SCHEDULE
A visit to the seaside town of Cascais makes a nice day trip. It is easily accessible by train.
Another great place to visit is Sintra with its historic castles and unique architecture. Also easily reached by train.
As with any large city, there are good spots and not so good spots to be in. If unsure, check first.
